CAD-Solidworks Designer/Detailer

SeaLandAIre Technologies in Jackson, Michigan is looking for design inspired, and self-motivated CAD Designer/Detailer to provide support to Research and Development engineers.   


SeaLandAire provides engineering services for data collection applications in difficult environments. We design, develop, and build products tailored to help our customers collect information from any environment, focusing on small unmanned vehicles and sensor systems. The job is fast paced. You will be working with top engineers, customers and support people. Our passion for our work is evident in everything that leaves our doors.


Candidates should be prepared with samples of their work including hardcopy drawings and Solidworks models.


Essential Functions

  • Use Solidworks and associated software to create or revise assemblies, part models, and drawings as required using ASME Y14.5-2009 and company standards.
  • Create designs from sketches, verbal communications, or designs started by other engineers or designers.
  • Participate in builds to better understand how designs are integrated and offer suggestions for continued design improvement.
  • Work in the lab to build preliminary designs to check design function in assemblies.
  • Evaluate how an entire system works together and how each part interacts with the other.
  • Interfaces with many aspects of the business including Program Managers, Engineers, and Purchasing.
  • Contribute positively to the values and the culture of the business.
  • Solidworks Certificate is preferred.
  • Knowledge of CREO is a plus.

  • High proficiency with MS Office Tools.


Since a majority of SeaLandAire's business is funded by the US Department of Defense, applicants must be a "US Person" (US Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident).


Required Education and Experience Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school;


We are currently looking for 5-10 years of Solidworks Design experience.


Supervisory Responsibility This position has no supervisory responsibilities.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position, with a minimum expectation of 40 hours per week. Hours are somewhat flexible and some late evenings may be required.


Travel There is no anticipated overnight travel for this position. Some local day travel may be required.


Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear (sometimes in a noisy environment), sit, stand, walk, climb (occasionally), and do repetitive movements with hands.
